We must let go of the life we have planned, so as to accept the one that is waiting for us.

My fascination with the human body and the amazing things it can do started at an early age.  I remember watching  Olympic gymnast Nadia Comaneci score the first--ever perfect 10  and aspiring to such greatness.  As a young girl growing up in Texas, I started learning gymnastics. I never made it to the Olympics, but I did earn a spot on the high school varsity gymnastics team  and used my tumbling skills on the cheerleading squad.

After high school, I moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California.  This is when my whole world changed. Imagine an Asian girl from a South Texas town transplanted to the middle of a sprawling metropolis. Quickly my perspective expanded and my mind opened to new ideas, lifestyles, people and places.  In my studies, I was drawn to philosophy. Questions about the meaning of life, truth, morality, religion, along with my gymnastics background, became seeds for my interest in yoga.

I graduated from USC with two bachelor of arts degrees, in philosophy and journalism.  I took my first yoga class in 1997, and started practicing regularly when I moved to San Francisco in 1999 to further my high-tech public relations career. Ten years later, I've left my job as a vice president at a top public relations firm to pursue a more holistic, inspired path.  I was tired of the constant stress and the toll my career took on my mind and body. Now I’d like to help others who want to find more balance in their lives and feel better in their bodies.

After leaving my job, I traveled for six months in Thailand, Bali, Taiwan and Hawaii.  I received my Yoga Teacher Certification at Kauai Yoga School, founded by Michaelle Edwards.  She created the YogAlign™ method, a new system of pain-free yoga and bodywork that uses deep core breathing, self-massage and functional body positioning to tone, strengthen, and naturally align the body from the inside out.  I also studied the art of traditional Thai healing bodywork  at the School of Massage for Healt h in Chiang Mai , Thailand.

For me yoga is a practice that brings you back in touch with your true self. Beyond the physical benefits, it also reminds you that no matter what is going on outside, there is always peace inside.
